Subhavna – The monthly Newsletter of the Diocese of Calcutta, CNI
This latest newsletter from our partner diocese in Calcutta is available below:
We gathered together to celebrate our global connections and partnerships and hear from Bishop Ian and Bishop Marinez from our partner diocese in Amazonia.
A day of gathering, celebration and worship
Bishop Ian’s address and Lambeth update
Many around our diocese enjoyed a full, lovely day celebrating our global partnerships and strengthening our relationship among our community.
After fellowship in the chapter house and opportunity to browse all the displays from charges highlighting their global connections, Bishop Ian welcomed everyone in the cathedral sanctuary, and dispersed us to four different small sessions where we heard about global and local climate action, youth links between our diocese and Amazonia, and specific situations in Israel, Palestine and Ethiopia.
The focus then turned to Bishop Ian’s updates from the Lambeth Conference in August in which bishops from all over the world gathered to meet and consider and celebrate God’s church for God’s world. In the middle of his presentation, we heard directly from Bishop Marinez in Amazonia who provided a lovely video greeting to us and echoed Bishop Ian’s sentiments on the importance of the Lambeth Conference.
There was even a Peace Ambassor from Peru who showed up!
