Bishop Ian came to St Mary’s on Sunday 17th November 2019. His first visit to the Linkage since his institution (almost a year ago) as Bishop of The Diocese of St Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane.

Sunday was a linkage service, jointly with St Andrews, in order to confirm 7 members of our congregations in their Anglican faith. Indeed one of the candidates was christened at the service, prior to confirmation.

So a big thank you to Bishop Ian for coming to the linkage. It was a joy to meet him and have his views.

EAT, SHARE, LOVE IN DIFFERENT FAITHS

Not long until Scottish Interfaith Week and we hope you are looking forward to it. We have created a new resource outlining the key principles of ‘Eat’, ‘Share’ and ‘Love’ in six major world religions. Please forgive us if your faith does not get a mention, it was a time-consuming project, and that’s all we had time for on this occasion!

We now have nearly 50 events listed on the website. Please keep checking back as we will keep uploading new events as they are sent to us next week.

If you are planning an event and haven’t yet sent us the details we encourage you to do so as soon as possible so that more people get to know about it. You can submit your event through the link below, or email us at info@interfaithscotland.org with the details.

During the service we sang new hymns to well-known tunes accompanied by keyboard and guitars, matched descriptions to saints’ names, made haloes to remind us that we are all called to be saints, and ended our time of fellowship with bacon rolls. We all enjoyed the opportunity to try worshipping in a different style.

HOST APPEAL 2019

HOST UK arranges one day and weekend visits for International students all year round with three-night visits during the Festive season. Such hospitality is greatly sought after and valued by students far from home whose only alternative may be a lonely hall of residence.

Our “festive season” does not just mean Christmas but can also mean weekends in the run up to Christmas, and New Year. Your guest will be someone curious to experience British life with all its special traditions and culture…and keen to share those of their home country. Your hospitality will be a unique gift, a treasured memory and rewarding in so many ways.

Please consider opening your home and heart to an international student and remember that if the festive season is difficult for you, we do operate all year round,  so hosting can become one of your New Year Resolutions!

If you should like to know more, please go to our website www.hostuk.org or leave us a message on
