Host Families and Supported Lodgings Carers wanted!

Could you make a difference for a young person living in Perth and Kinross?

Our Throughcare and Aftercare Team in Education and Children’s Services are currently seeking prospective carers for:

  1. Unaccompanied children and young people seeking asylum, coming from difficult circumstances in countries around the globe; and
  2. Young people from Perth and Kinross who are care experienced and are moving towards adulthood and independent living.

If you have a spare room, enjoy the company of young people and would like to support them to gain the life skills they need, you could become part of our team of carers.

There’s no one kind of person that could become a Host Family or Supported Lodgings carer. You can be single or married, from the LGBTQ+ community, own your own home or rent, be working or retired. As long as you have room for a young person in your home and time to support them, we’d like to hear from you.

The Council provides full training and ongoing support to carers. Weekly fees are paid to enable you to deliver the support and guidance the young person in your care needs.

For more information, please contact Jenni McRae or Gina Mramor by email to supportedlodgings@pkc.gov.uk

The feast of St Bartholomew was celebrated in the Central Fife Centre of Mission by a celebration of the Eucharist which included the inauguration of a new ministry. Ian Scott, an established Lay Reader in our diocese, was licensed by Bishop Ian to serve in the Centre of Mission where he will assist Revd Gerry Dillon, the priest in charge.
These photos were taken after the service, which was held at St Finnian’s, Lochgelly.

The above picture shows the Rector, Revd Canon Christine Fraser and members of the Vestry  and Craft Group standing beside their newly installed defibrillator which has been positioned outside the boiler house in front of St Peter’s. It is suitable for use on children and adults and was financed  from a sizeable donation from their Craft Group  and also church funds and they are most grateful to all who assisted with it’s installation.

The Very Revd Hunter Farquharson, who has served as Provost of St Ninian’s Cathedral for 24 years, is retiring at the end of July. Hunter has had an extraordinary ministry at the Cathedral, and in other charges in the Diocese before that, and will continue to live in the Diocese. Many in the Diocese, as well as the Cathedral congregation, will want to say thank you and farewell to Hunter as he starts a new chapter of life.

Hunter’s final service, at which we will give thanks, will be Choral Evensong on Sunday 30 July at 3.00pm. Clergy and Lay Readers are invited to robe (choir dress).

Please pray for Hunter, and for the Cathedral, and please come to the Evensong at which you will be very welcome.
