This virtual concert is being given by The Wallace Collection in lieu of their visit to St Mary’s. The concert is being given at 18.30 on 31 January, and the event will be an hour long with spoken introductions and time for questions. The Wallace Collection will base it on works they have found during the pandemic:
Mimart Septet 1 (1860)
Bellon Quintet no 7 (1850) A Sea Journey (specially for Angus Ross in Portree who is a sailor)
James Ross New Work for piano and brass quintet
Beethoven Die Alte Gute Zeit Songs from England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland arranged by Wallace (a belated birthday greeting to Ludwig)
The concert is designed to blow away the cobwebs and James Ross’s new piece (he’s working on it at the moment) will be melodious and traditionally Scottish whilst being new wave. It will be completely free as they have managed to assemble some funding to pay the players and hire the venue in St Andrews Laidlaw Music Centre where they can socially distance and play to camera with all health mitigations in place but no audience.
This will be a ‘zoomed’ event and entry is via ‘Eventbrite’ using the URL:
