Scottish Interfaith Week – Eat, Share, Love – 10th – 17th November 2019

The summer has flown in, it’s Autumn already and I can’t believe it’s only one month to go until Scottish Interfaith Week which is taking place from 10th – 17th November! Details of events have started to trickle in and we would love it if you could let us know if you are planning an event and to put these details on our website at http://scottishinterfaithweek.org/submit-an-event or you can email info@scottishinterfaithweek.org for help and advice.

 

I also wanted to remind you that we have up to £100 available per group to assist you with your SIFW event. Just fill in the request form below and return as soon as you can to: frances@interfaithscotland.org

2019 Theme

The theme of Scottish Interfaith Week in 2019 is ‘Eat Share Love’. Learn about each other’s faith or culture by sharing food and stories. Enjoy a meal together, share recipes and skills, cook together or for each other. Getting involved is easy. You can organise anything from a small gathering in your home or community centre to a large event in your local place of worship, school or library.

    On Remembrance Sunday there will be special commemorations across our diocese.We pray for reconciliation between nations, that all people may live in freedom, justice and peace.We pray for all who suffer the consequences of fighting and terror.We remember with thanksgiving and sorrow those whose lives have been given and taken away.We pray for peace-makers and peace-keepers, who seek to keep this world secure and free.“I know that my Redeemer lives, and that at the last he will stand upon the earth.” (Job 19. 25)This memorial on Perth’s North Inch was unveiled in 1995 to pay tribute to all who served in the 51st Highland Division in the two World Wars. It symbolizes the liberation of our European Allies from occupation and repression in 1945 and commemorates the 50 years of peace that have followed. In our act of remembrance we recommit ourselves to strive for all that makes for peace; to seek to heal the wounds of war; and to work for a just future for all humanityO God, whose will it isto hold both heaven and earth in a single peace:let the design of your great loveshine on the waste of our wraths and sorrows;and give peace to your Church,peace among nations,peace in our homes,and peace in our hearts;through Jesus Christ, our Lord,who lives and reigns with you,in the unity of the Holy Spirit,one God, world without end.Amen. ...
