Kentigern String Quartet – St Mary’s, Aberfoyle – 28th April 2019 at 3 pm

April 28, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Kentigern Quartet was formed in 2015 and takes its name from the founder and patron saint of the City of Glasgow. Violinists Barbara Downie and Feargus Hetherington, violist Nicola Boag and cellist Jessica Kerr bring their collective experience working at home and internationally to the ensemble. In addition to the quartet, they work with leading British orchestras, as soloists with amateur orchestras in the UK and abroad, and in various chamber ensembles. This wealth of experience is reflected in their wide repertoire and rich interpretations.

The musicians of the Kentigern Quartet are all actively engaged in education work; teaching at all levels, coaching at NYOS and working with adult amateur musicians. The quartet seek to make their concerts accessible to all and welcome the opportunity to engage in education and outreach work in connection with performance engagements.

Programme includes:

John McEwen: Quartet no.8, “Biscay”
Beethoven Op 18 no. 6 in B flat
Rachmaninov: “Romance” from String Quartet no.1
Scandinavian Folk Tunes: ”Woodworks”
