Dear Concert-Goer
Well – those of you who missed the last concert failed to enjoy some sublime music from Cordes en Ciel, beautifully performed songs and instrumental pieces from 16th and 17th century England, France, and Italy. Audience feedback was very enthusiastic!
Our next concert is a recital of music by the brilliant young organist, Steven McIntyre, “Christmas to Easter – Bach and Baroque”. Steven comes from Grangemouth and is a former assistant organist to Paisley Abbey and organ scholar at Peterborough Cathedral. He is currently assistant organist at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral, Glasgow. He is a Scottish Churches Trust Sir Boyd Tunnock Organist’s Travel Bursary scholar who intends to study in Paris, chiefly at St Severin with M. Christophe Mantoux, and to explore some of the Parisian organs of Aristide Cavaillé-Coll. You may listen to him play at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gk0Nw3ecB4g.
It will be interesting to hear what sounds he conjures from our organ! Incidentally, our organ is currently undergoing repairs costing £750 so should be in a good state for Steven to play.
So, I look forward to seeing you at 3 o’clock on Sunday 20 February in St. Mary’s Church, Aberfoyle. As ever, entry is by voluntary donation and you may reserve a place by responding to this email. I am also delighted to announced that we are now able to enjoy a cup of tea after the concert.
With best wishes,
Christopher Roads
