The Ordination of Annie Hughes as Deacon will take place at St Ninian’s Cathedral at 12 noon on Saturday 28^th September 2019.    Annie who comes from the congregation of St Ninians will serve as Deacon and then Priest at St John’s Perth.   All clergy and members of the diocese are asked to pray for Annie and others who will be ordained at that time in the SEC and are welcome to attend the service of Ordination.   Clergy are invited to robe with alb and white stole.   

There will be a led Retreat Day at the Willie Clarke Centre Lochore Country Meadows on Sat 14th September 10am-4pm, led by by St. Finnian’s & Salvation Army Cowdenbeath. The theme will be “Changing Seasons” and there will be a shared Taize-inspired service the following day at 5.30pm.

There will be Songs of Praise in St Catharine’s, Blairgowrie on Sunday 11th August at 3pm, organised by East Perthshire Action of Churches Together in Scotland.

ABC are excited to announce that their new rector will be the Revd. James Bryson, who is currently Priest-in-Charge at St John the Baptist, Eltham, in the Diocese of Southwark in south-east London. James was born and grew up in Fife, where he still has family. He is looking forward to returning to Scotland to live and work as their rector. We hold James and his family in our prayers at this time.

The institution is likely to take place in mid-November.

There was a Vigil for Solidarity with Refugees and Incarcerated Migrants on Tuesday 30th July, 3-5pm in Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church.

The Kyiv Accordionist Duo played in virtuoso style last night to a full church – from Vivaldi and Bach to modern tango music. £700 was raised for disabled survivors of the Chernobyl disaster in Ukraine. Thanks to all who supported the event.

On Wednesday 24th July a number of folk from St John’s went on a visit to Rosslyn Chapel on what was a glorious day. Everyone appreciated the short very informative talk before exploring the interior and exterior at their own pace.

It is 130 years since first branch of the Mothers’ Union in Scotland was established in Dunblane, following a visit by Mary Sumner, the founder of the movement, to Scotland in 1887. Come and find out more about the history of MU in Scotland and its current projects between Friday 9th and Sunday 11th August. There will be an exhibition of hand-sewn banners from around the diocese, a historical display and information about the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence, a project MU is involved with. You are welcome to join us for a Celebration Service at 11 on the Friday followed by a shared lunch.

It is with great pleasure that we can formally announce that Rachael Wright will be placed in the Highland Perthshire Linked Charge as a Mixed Mode student, commencing 8th September 2019. We are in the process of organizing the Commissioning Service as part of a Joint Charge Evensong at Holy Trinity (final date tbc) to officially admit her into ministry and training in the charge and to welcome both Rachael and Charlotte to our congregations.
