  • October 17, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Our next concert will be given by the Wallace Collection Brass Ensemble on Sunday 17th October at 3 o’clock.

They will be playing:

“It all began in Venice”

The programme begins with three compositions for brass from Giovanni Gabrieli’s posthumous

compositions written around 1850 for the new chromatic brass championed in Paris by Adolphe
Sax and other makers. It finishes with some masterly British song arrangements penned by
Beethoven for Edinburgh publisher George Thomson.
Giovanni Gabrieli (1557-1612) Canzon V a 7 (1615 op. posth.); Canzon VI a 7 (1615 op. posth.);
