Churches do not endorse or support individual candidates or parties, but as part of our commitment to the common good many congregations and Christian organisations support participation in democratic activity, including discussion and debate, the sharing of ideas and opinions, building relationships with candidates and elected politicians, voting, and praying for all those involved and affected by political decisions.

    On the feast Day of St Ninian we remember in prayer the congregation of our cathedral in Perth with Stephen, Very Revd Stephen Holmes their newly-installed provost, and also the congregation of St Ninian in Alyth. We pray that we and they may follow the example of St Ninian in filling our land with the light of the gospel. Light breaks through the clouds, looking towards Perth from the stretch of the old Coronation Road between Deuchny Hill and Scone.Almighty God,who through the preaching of your holy bishop, Ninian,made the light of the gospel shine in our land:grant that we too, by that same gospel,may be filled with the light of your truth,and come to know the joys of the heavenly life;through Jesus Christ, our Lord,who lives and reigns with you,in the unity of the Holy Spirit,one God, world without end.Amen. ...     Today, as we mark the feast day of the Holy Cross, we honour the cross on which Christ was crucified, remembering that it was his self-sacrificing death on the cross which ensured new life for all who believe in him. The cross is frequently seen in cemeteries as a memorial, giving hope of eternal life.
