News from the CMD “Death Matters” day

The Cathedral’s Chapter House was full for our diocesan training day for those involved in pastoral care on 23rd April.  The topic ‘Death Matters’ had attracted a number of lay members of pastoral care teams from across the diocese as well as priests and lay readers. Speakers from the Good Life, Good Death, Good Grief project www.goodlifedeathgrief.org.uk shared a wealth of useful resources to encourage ordinary folks to talk about dying and grieving.  They also gave a taste of their EASE course which equips people to accompany and support family members and friends towards the end of their lives.  In addition, Revd Canon Marion Chatterley who has spent many years as chaplain to the dying, shared valuable insights into how to be aware of and address spiritual pain.  Look out for a video of the day that will be uploaded soon and for information about the EASE course that Revd Rachael Wright will be offering over two days on June 15th and 30th, in the Stirling area.
