On the feast day of St Kentigern, also known as St Mungo, we give thanks for the example and work of this teacher and guardian of the Church. This stone beside the path on Moncreiffe Hill, with its fish carvings, reminds us of the story that Kentigern miraculously caused a missing ring to be found inside a fish.O God,who in your wonderful providencechose blessed Kentigern, your bishop,to be a teacher and guardian of your Church:grant, we pray, that we may ever follow the holy exampleof him whose feast day we now celebrate;through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you,in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end.Amen. ... On the first Sunday after Epiphany we celebrate the Baptism of our Lord and reflect on the symbolic meaning of baptism. This waterfall tumbles down to meet the Falls of Moness at the Birks of Aberfeldy. When Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him and he saw God's Spirit descending like a dove and alighting on him.And a voice from the heavens said, "This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased." Matthew 3:16-17Collect for the Baptism of the LordEternal Father, who at the baptism of Jesus revealed him to be your Son,anointing him with the Holy Spirit:grant that we, being born again, and made your children by adoption and grace, may daily be renewed by your Holy Spirit;through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you,in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end.Amen.Collect for the weekdays of Proper 1O Lord, in your loving kindness, hear the prayers of your people as they call upon you:that they may discern your will, and also be given strength to fulfil it;through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you,in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end.Amen. ...
