On the twenty first Sunday after Pentecost we recall how Jesus distinguished between the kingdoms of Caesar and of God. This bench is beside Niel Gow’s oak on the banks of the river Tay, near Dunkeld.Jesus, aware of their malice, said, "Why are you putting me to the test, you hypocrites? Show me the coin used for the tax." And they brought him a denarius. Then he said to them, "Whose head is this and whose title?" They answered, "Caesar's." Then he said to them, "Give therefore to Caesar the things that are the Caesar's and to God the things that are God's."(Matthew 22:18-21)Almighty and merciful God:in your goodness keep from us all that is harmful;that, being ready both in body and soul,we may freely accomplish your will;through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you,in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end.Amen. ...
