For our next concert on Sunday 20 August we are delighted to welcome back Alan Kitchen – who played last year accompanying the lovely voice of Heloise Bernard – to give us a recital of British organ music. He will start with Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks, followed with music by Emma Lou Diemer (b.1927) – yes, I know, she is American – then Maurice Greene (1696 – 1655), Samuel Long (c1725 – 1764), and Elisabeth Stirling (1819 – 1895). Two pieces in cinema organ style by Scottish composer Michael Thomson will lighten the tone before ending with Sir Edward Elgar’s Pomp & Circumstance March no 4 in G. This is music we have never heard on our organ before!
So, if you need reminding, Sunday 20th August, 3 o’clock in St. Mary’s Aberfoyle, followed by tea, and entry by voluntary donation.
